If you're a regular user of Netflix, no doubt you'll love both the convenience and sheer variety of choice of TV and movies to while away your day.

However, as the streaming service has grown in popularity, so too has the number of scams associated with it.

The latest one doing the rounds is a classic phishing scam designed to get your personal details, credit card number and the works. Users are sent an email warning them that their account has been suspended as they have been unable to validate your billing details. By clicking the link, you are brought to a bogus Netflix site and made to re-enter your details.

It all looks totally legit, except for the fact that there is a generic '#name#' where your own name should be - a dead giveaway. It's also worth double-checking the sender's address in these situations, as they are often a subtle variation on the official address.

Netflix themselves have said: "Phishing scams are, unfortunately, very common and often exploit well known brands. Internet users should always be cautious when they receive an email request any personal information or credit card details.

"If you get an email that looks suspiciously like a phishing attempt, please let us know by forwarding it to [email protected]."

See below for an example of the scam and it's worth notifying your Netflix-using friends, too.
