Filming on the sixth and final season of Netflix's has been shut down following the allegations of unwanted sexual advances by Kevin Spacey in 1986 towards a then 14-year-old Anthony Rapp.

Per Deadline, MRC and Netflix have released a joint statement about the show, stating: "MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew."

This shutdown comes less than 24 hours after the streaming site reacted to the initial allegation reports, at the time stating "Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey" and that "executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported."

The sixth season of 'House of Cards' was expected to premiere its 13 episodes in mid-2018 but it is unclear as of yet how this halt in production will impact the number of episodes, if any, that make it to air.

As reported yesterday, MRC and Netflix are said to be looking at multiple spinoffs featuring characters from the series.
