There has been talk for some time that HBO are planning spin-offs to Game of Thrones after its final season in 2019, or 'successor shows' as they seem to prefer to call them. While these may never live up to the original, at least we know they'll look good as HBO revealed that they would be sparing no expense with the budget.

Speaking at The Best of HBO at the INTV conference in Israel on Tuesday, Francesca Orsi, HBO's Senior Vice President of Drama said that the budget for these show would be almost at much as the original series and certainly more than what the earlier seasons had.

"$50 million (per season) would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big," Orsi said.

She went on to say that it would feel "corporate malfeasance to not continue it [Game of Thrones] and there could be up to "three, four, five spin-offs".

These shows are in good hands too with some of the screenwriters including Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers), Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential, Mystic River), and Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman).

Orsi also talked about the final season of Thrones saying how happy everyone was with the script and how the table read for it "was a really powerful moment in our lives and our career".

"None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started to fall down to their deaths. By the end, the last few words on the final script, the tears just started falling down. Then there was applause that lasted 15 minutes," she said.

Jaysus. Can it be 2019 already? Roll on season 8.
