As anyone who has re-watched Game of Thrones knows, those folks love a bit of foreshadowing and have dropped many an Easter egg hinting at future storylines throughout the series.

One such hint was spotted by an eagle-eyed redditor recently in season three in a conversation between Ser Davos and Shireen Baratheon (sob - Shireen). It was when the young girl was teaching Davos how to read, and do you know what the very first word he read was?

Aegon.

Yep, as we discovered in that not-so-secret revelation in the season seven finale, that's the real name of the former Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and now the true heir to the Iron Throne, Mr Jon Snow himself. Little could Davos have known he was actually speaking the name of the king he is now loyal too.

Irish actor Liam Cunningham, who of course plays Davos, told the HuffPost that he had no idea about the significance of that scene at the time. "They're very good at that sort of thing. David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] plant little Easter eggs there if you want to see them.

"I don't know what the hell's gonna happen from one episode to the next. That's testament to how good the writing is on that, too. After seven seasons, people are still asking the same question they asked in season one: Who do you think is gonna end up on the throne?"
