The man responsible for bringing us the sheer brilliance that was Father Ted has a new comedy series on the way. Graham Linehan, who was also a writer for The IT crowd, co-wrote and directed the new series, so it's pretty much already guaranteed to be a cracker.
The series, which will be called The Walshes, follows "a warm, tight knit family from the West Dublin suburb of Strollinstown". RTE has said: "Tony (Niall Gaffney) and Carmel (Philippa Dunne) are parents to Ciara (Amy Stephenson) and Rory (Rory Connolly), who are both still at home because the state of the Irish economy has forced them all back together."
They went on to say: "Even Ciara's new boyfriend Graham (Shane Langan) is forced to move in and family friend Martin (Owen Roe) always seems to be hanging around mending bits and pieces, as well as accidentally becoming trapped in the wall cavity."
Already sounds promising! Maybe this is the next show Irish people will be quoting for the rest of their lives. Might just be Ted.
It's unknown as of yet when exactly we will get to watch it, so here's a bit of classic Father Ted in between times:
