Let's just put this into perspective - €180,000 would get you a decent-sized house down the country, and this was spent on basically one room in a single house in Killester.

If ever you wondered whether or not the boom was back, folks, last night's episode of Room To Improve was your sign. Michael and Cliona bought their '50s home in Killester for €591,000 and spent a further €30,000 installing sliding doors and making improvements, and then wheeled in Dermot Bannon with a further €150,000 budget to improve... one room?

By all accounts, Dermot was taken by the house already - he was mystified by a set of wooden shelves - and set to work on the whole thing, traipsing around Dublin looking for vintage bricks (#boomisback) and joking with builders about the utter stress of trying to deal with people who don't really know what they want.

Ah, 'tis a grand 'oul life all the same. Here's some of the Twitter reaction.
