Eastenders
are cutting characters left, right and centre lately, with the announcement that four more characters have been axed in order to boost ratings.

Early next year will mark the departure of Kirsty Branning , AJ Ahmed , Carl White and Poppy Meadow. New boss Dominic Treadwell Collins hopes the axing of the four characters will help the soap get back to it's best. Kierston Wareing (Kirsty), Phaldut Sharma (AJ), Daniel Coonan (Carl) and Rachel Bright (Poppy) will shoot their last scenes before Christmas with each of them set to leave early next year. A spokesperson from the programme confirmed the departures and added, 'Dominic didn't feel the characters who are leaving fit with the direction he is taking the show so he quickly decided to write them out. He has only been in a month but he is already making big changes. He knows what he wants for 'EastEnders' and is putting plans in place quickly'.

These are the only faces to be leaving Albert Square with Michael Moon (Steve John Sheppard) and Alice Branning (Jasmyn Banks) both leaving the show in what we can expect to be a dramatic storyline. 'All the cast and crew have been sworn to secrecy but it will be must see viewing for the fans. And there will be a lot of shocks and gasps when it all plays out on screen. Michael has been such a dark character and his exit is very fitting,' said a spokesperson for the show.
