Depending on who you ask, The Crown was either the greatest TV series Netfix has ever commissioned or a stodgy affair that'd bore you into submission.

Either way, pretty much everyone watched it and a second season is now officially underway with casting announced today for the roles of John and Jacqueline Kennedy. Audiences will remember Michael C. Hall in the long-running crime procedural-cum-horror series Dexter, whilst South African actress Jodi Balfour will be playing Jackie. As well as this, Matthew Goode has also been announced as playing Lord Snowdon, the first husband of Princess Margaret.

The second season, which has no confirmed premiere date as of yet, will move forward into the '60s and see Queen Elizabeth II lose her third Prime Minister to scandal and dealing with the tumultuous changes of the era.

The Crown is currently streaming on Netflix.
