Pretty sure we can just out and out say that The X Files is coming back in some shape or form. Gillian Anderson has said she would be 'fucking overjoyed' if it happened, the network Fox has said it would like to see it going ahead, and now David Duchovny has chimed in saying he would be 'more than happy' for the hit show to return.

Speaking to USA Today, Duchovny said he would be “more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter).”

He went on to say; “I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We’ll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season,” he joked.

Hey, we'll take what we can get!

The actors both have a lot going on at the moment with Duchovny committed to new series Aquarius, where he will play a homicide detective on the trail of Charles Manson in the 1960s.

While Gillian Anderson will probably be kept busy playing Detective Stella Gibbs in another season of The Fall, which is looking likely to return.

Noticing a theme here? They're only mad for playing detectives!

And each other...
