We reckon Charmed was always 'fierce, funny and feminist' but that is the description of its upcoming rebooted series which has just been given the green light for a pilot by The CW network in America.

The original series, which ran from 1998-2006, was sort of like a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and starred Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs as three sisters who were also witches in disguise. Doherty, however, was replaced by Rose McGowan after three seasons.

There's no word yet of the original stars being attached to this 'feminist reboot' but they'll have to pop up in some way, right?

The official synopsis of the new show reads: "This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centres on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch's work is never done."

No word yet on when we might get to see this on screen yet but we'll keep you posted.
