It went quiet for some time, but now it appears the US version of Love / Hate is gathering steam.

Dennis Lehane, the brains behind Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone and many more, will be adapting Love / Hate for US cable.

It's now confirmed that Showtime, the TV channel behind Dexter, Homeland and Golden Globe-winning The Affair, are set to produce a remake of the hit TV series and set it in Hawai'i.

Yes, Hawai'i. No, we're not kidding.

According to a recent interview, it's understood that it will show the tropical island in a light that "tourists don't see" and will be just as gritty and hard-edged as our own version.

No casting has taken place as of yet, and it's not known what Stuart Carolan's involvement will be, but we do know that it's finally happening.

Who would you like to see play Nidge in the US version? We think Edward Norton, if he's prepare to do TV. Remember American History X?

Norton, with his head shaved, looked pretty close to Nidge.

Who do you think would make a good Nidge? Let us know in the comments!
