The Great British Bake Off may have gone to pastures new on Channel 4, but the BBC are not taking it lying down and have announced a brand new cookery series for the channel hosted by former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain.

She will be teaming up with Zoe Ball to host the series which is set to be called The Big Family Cooking Showdown. It will be a competition that will pitch 16 families against each other as they allow cameras into their homes where they will hope to impress by cooking up some old family recipes.

As you may have guessed, this means the show will need some judges, with Giorgio Locatelli and Rosemary Shrager taking on the roles. You may have seen Giorgio hosting a few BBC cookery shows over the years while TV chef Rosemary may be better known to you for her stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here in 2012 as well as a haute cuisine teacher on the reality television programme Ladette to Lady.

Rosemary said of the new show: "We'll be searching for a household where food is at the heart of their family, with kitchen duties and recipes shared between the generations."

While Nadiya said: "Having been through a food competition as an amateur cook myself, I know exactly how tough it can get and so I'll be there for them, alongside Zoe, as the pressure really builds!"

The show will be broadcast in autumn of 2017 and will consist of 12 hour-long episodes.
