Published first in 1983, Discworld is by far Terry Prachett's most well-known series of novels and was his most prolific source of work too.

Deadline reports that BBC is now readying itself to adapt Discworld into a six-part miniseries, with a working title of The Watch - which, presumably, is a reference to the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, a fictional police force in the novel series.

There's no word yet on who'll be playing Rincewind, Death, Sam Vines or any of the many, many characters in the series, but it's understood that Simon Allen - who worked on Strike Back, and The Musketeers - is set to adapt the series.

Although there's been a couple of adaptations of Terry Prachett's novels - The Colour Of Magic, Hogfather, Going Postal being the most well-known - there hasn't been one done of the entirety of Discworld, and Deadline's report suggests that the BBC wants it to become a recurring series.
