Fans of Irish author Tana French - described by The Washington Post as 'the most important crime novelist to emerge in the past ten years' - will be delighted to hear that her novels are set to be adapted into a BBC crimes series.
The first season will be based on French's first two novels - In the Woods and The Likeness - with each book focusing on a different detective from the same team. It will be written for the screen by Sarah Phelps who said, "Tana’s compelling novels are both nail-biting thrillers, enquiries into the nature of evil and heartbreaking stories of human frailty, love and loss; I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing The Dublin Murders to audiences."
The show will be an eight-part series and is being produced by Eustom Films, Veritas Entertainment Group and Element Pictures. Filming is set to begin in Belfast and Dublin in 2018.
Piers Wenger, controller of BBC drama said, "Sarah has brought Tana’s haunting stories to life with depth, flair and a deft touch of the modern gothic, more psychological thriller than police procedural, expect them to become a huge talking point on BBC One."
