Following the recent allegations against former Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick, the BBC has pulled his new series Ordeal by Innocense from its Christmas schedule.

Westwick has vehemently denied two allegations of sexual assault, saying in a statement on Twitter, "It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct," Westwick wrote.

"I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."

While the BBC said in a statement, "The BBC is not making any judgement but until these matters are resolved, we will not include Ordeal by Innocence in the schedules."

The Agatha Christie adaptation also stars Bill Nighy, Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson, Star Trek Into Darkness's Alice Eve, Downton Abbey's Matthew Goode, Get Out's Catherine Keener, Fortitude's Luke Treadaway, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's Anthony Boyle and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children's Ella Purnell.

The BBC has also revealed that filming of the second series of 1980s-set comedy White Gold, which stars Westwick in the lead role, has been paused for the time being.

"The independent production company making White Gold has informed us that Ed Westwick paused from filming while he deals with these allegations," the BBC said.
