The show that had us all talking in a mid-west accent for the last few months will be back again next year for another stint. The series, which you probably know already was based on the Coen brothers' nineties movie, starred Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton and proved a hit with viewers when it aired this year, bagging eighteen Emmy nominations for itself.
FX announced at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour yesterday that the show would definitely be returning for a second season, and maybe even a third. The second season will consist of ten episodes and will feature a whole new cast and will be set in a new time period. The Hollywood Reporter has said it is set to be a prequel and set in 1979 following central character Molly's father Lou Solverson (Keith Carradine) when he was just 33 years old. Molly will also be in it but as a four year old child.
Producer of the show Noah Hawley added; "If the first season, the three [influences] were Fargo, No Country Old Men and A Serious Man, this year we are in Fargo, Miller's Crossing and The Man Who Wasn't There."
It's still a bit of a wait though as it's not expected to be aired until Autumn 2015. In the meantime though, you can watch Louis C.K.'s comedy 'Louie' which the network has also renewed for a fifth seven-episode season which will be out in the spring.
