Although Aaron Sorkin had said he's done and finished with television just two years ago, the celebrated screenwriter may be gearing up for a revival of The West Wing.

In a lengthy feature interview with THR, Sorkin was quizzed on the possibility and had a pretty clear idea of how he saw a new season panning out. As he sees it, a new season would see a new president, played by Sterling K. Brown, consulting with Bartlet, played by Martin Sheen. "(There's) some kind of jam, an emergency, a very delicate situation involving the threat of war or something, and Bartlet, long since retired, is consulted in the way that Bill Clinton used to consult with Nixon."

Brown, of course, got wind of the whole thing and commented on Twitter that if Sorkin was serious, he was more than up for the role. Brown is currently starring on This Is Us, and won an Emmy last year for his performance as Christopher Darden in American Crime Story: The People Vs. OJ Simpson.

The whole thing rolled over so fast that This Is Us showrunner Ken Olin had to step in and put a stop to the whole thing with a tweet.

As Sorkin mentioned in his interview with THR, the TV studio behind The West Wing - NBC - have given him a standing offer to come back for a revival season if he wants it, and considering he's already got one half of the cast ready to roll, it might just come together if we wish hard enough. Moreover, Sorkin himself has said he's considered their offer from time to time, so if the momentum keeps up, it could happen.

After all, nobody thought we'd get another season of The X-Files and here we are.
