Well this is very interesting indeed, and yet another example of TV3 upping their game considerably in recent months, no doubt to make sure they stay ahead of UTV Ireland when it launches in the New Year.

Deadline have reported that NBC Universal International Television Production and TV3 Group Ireland are partnering up to co-develop new formats for the Irish channel starting next year. The American network will be making a similar move with other international channels, however the initiative is to be launched with TV3 first.

The focus is said to be on "new factual entertainment and studio-based formats", with NBC then having the rights to the format and distribution internationally, while NBC's in-house format lab Tellycopter will lead the 'creative conversations' as they put it.

This marks the first official co-development partnership agreement for TV3, and basically what it means for us, a lot more great TV to be watching on one of our own channels!

Not bad TV3, not bad at all.
