Alison Brie is returning to the world of TV comedy, landing the lead role in G.L.O.W., a 10 episode series which will appear on Netflix.

G.L.O.W. (Goregeous Ladies of Wrestling) was a real televised wrestling promotion, set up in 1986, to rival the WWE. It lasted until 1990, running for four seasons, and featured comedy sketches as well as wrestling matches.

The Netflix comedy will be a fictionalised look at this world, with Brie playing Ruth, an out-of-work actress who turns to wrestling in a final attempt to make a career in the entertainment industry.

Brie has a proven track record with comedy, having starred in Community and done voice work for BoJack Horseman. The show will be produced by Jenji Kohan, the creator of Orange is The New Black.

No word on when it will be available, but we're quite looking forward to this.
