They're just killing off characters left, right and centre on the soaps these days and now they are taking down the ones who aren't even on screen anymore.
Some of the residents of the cobbles are delivered quite a shock tonight when it's discovered that Katy Armstrong has died. The character was formerly played by Georgia May Foote from 2010 to 2015, who went on to do quite well on Strictly Come Dancing afterwards. While Katy pretty much had the personality of a spoon the entire time she was on the soap, she was close with a lot of the residents who are still there.
Chesney receives the news tonight when he gets a phone call from Portugal and hears that Katy died in a car crash over there. Katy moved away with their son Joseph, so Chesney is soon kicked into action to try and get to him, the stress of which will no doubt not help his ill-health at the moment.
Although on the plus side, Sinead does see another side to Chesney when she realises how determined he is to see his son, which may stop her falling back into the arms of Daniel, so you know, clouds and silver linings and all that.
Katy's sister Izzy is still living on the street so will also be left devastated by the news while it will no doubt have an impact on Anna too, who was with Katy's father Owen for a number years on the soap. Although she may be too busy dealing with that Phelan fella, who's also set to wreak havoc this week.
So it's all go in Weatherfield.
