We've spoken before about how underrated Karl Urban's Judge Dredd was and how it desperately needed to be turned into a Netflix series.

As it turns out, it looks like it may be happening. Entertainment Weekly reports that a new TV series based on 2000AD Comics and Judge Dredd is currently being developed, with casting due to be announced in the coming months. There's no word yet as to whether or not Karl Urban will reprising his role as Dredd, but it is known that a number of producers on the 2012 film are involved with this new series.

According to EW's report, the series - which will be called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One - will be "an ensemble drama about a team of Judges" and that casting will be announced at a later date. There's no word yet on where or when the series will air, however it's understood that Mark Stern - who as an executive producer on the Battlestar Galactica reboot - is serving the same role on Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.

Battlestar Galactica aired on SyFy, so it's entirely possible that this series could  end up there or perhaps on a streaming service such as Amazon or Netflix.

Either way, we're pretty damn excited. Here's the poster.
