It's this wonderful golden age of TV we find ourselves in, we're never short of something to watch. In fact, there's just too much available and if you want to have any life whatsoever, it's impossible to catch them all. So we've saved you some effort and gone through the TV schedule from this last week to pick out the five shows that are worth going back to watch if you have some free time this weekend, and all of them are available on Virgin On Demand too.

Gogglebox Ireland - TV3 - Wednesday

The much anticipated second season of Gogglebox Ireland kicked off this week as we catch up with some of our favourite telly addicts and see what they thought of what was on the box in the week that was. There are five new households joining this series too, from Cork, Portlaoise, Clare, Mayo and Wicklow, the first of which was the lovely Tadgh and his Granny Ettie from County Clare who we met on Thursday. Don't worry though, all the familiar faces are back too, sure where would we be without those Tully twins and their fancy couch?

The Moorside - BBC1 - Tuesday

This new two-part drama starring Sheridan Smith is based on the infamous true story of when nine-year-old Shannon Matthews went missing from Moorside Estate in Dewsbury in 2008. In Tuesday's opening episode, the family launched a public appeal while the community rallied around to help, but nothing shows up. However, doubts began to creep in for some regarding her mum Karen's behaviour, and friend and neighbour Natalie Brown struggles with her conscience as she has become convinced that Karen knows more than she is revealing, and as people who remember that news story will know, she definitely does.

First Dates Ireland - RTE2 - Thursday

The show where you get to watch the awkwardness of a first date unfold all from the safety of your own couch was back for another installment this week. It saw cheeky chappy Ian from Finglas meet his match in the form of Gary the dancing hairdresser, while soldier Conor hoped to be an officer and gentleman for Dublin girl, Kerry. Prepare for cringing, laughing and maybe a few tears as you find yourself rooting for all of these singletons ready to put their heart on the line so publicly. Particularly in Ireland, where let's face it, they will inevitably know their friend's sister's cousin's girlfriend or the like.

This is Us - RTE2 - Thursday

This brand new series kicked off on Thursday on RTE2 (which you may have caught already on Channel 4) starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia, the latter of which Gilmore Girls fans will know as Jess. It's a drama that follows the lives of a variety of people who share the same birthday. It's been described as the 'breakout hit' of the autumn TV schedule stateside, and it really is worth investing your time in - it navigates around being schmaltzy to be a charming, funny and heartwarming show, which is just what we need in this cold February.

Beat Bugs - Netflix

Although we're pretty sure we all came out of the womb knowing the words to Beatles songs, if your kids haven't quite got the grasp of them yet, Beat Bugs is here to make amends. The Netflix original animated series features some of the most well-known Beatles songs all woven into children's stories. It's got quite a few familiar voices on it too, featuring the likes of Pink, Sia, Robbie Williams, Eddie Vedder, The Shins, The Lumineers and James Corden. Stick it on to entertain the kids (or you) and remind yourself of some of the classics of the world's original boy band.

Netflix is also now available on channel 300 on Virgin TV and you even get 6 months free Netflix when you sign up.
