13 Reasons Why has, undoubtedly, been one of Netflix's most controversial outputs since the streaming service began.

The series deals with teenage suicide and has been heavily criticised by some as glamourising it. More recently, schools in the US have banned discussion of the series during class. With all this in mind, it should come as little surprise that the series is being picked up for a second season.

A report by THR confirms that production on the teenage drama series' second outing is already underway and will likely hit Netflix some time in 2018. Based on the novel by Jay Asher, the series follows the suicide of a teenager who has sent a package of cassette tapes to thirteen people she believes were responsible for her taking her own life.

The series was produced by Selena Gomez and has been one of Netflix's most popular shows this year.
