Award-winning movie director Spike Lee has branched into television for the first time ever to re-make his classic 1980s indie movie She's Gotta Have It.

The movie marked Lee's directorial debut, and despite being filmed in just 12 days on a shoestring budget, it made over $7 million at the US box office and launched the filmmaker's career

Lee is now creating, producing and directing a new 10-episode TV series based on his 1986 flick, and it's set to be released on Thanksgiving Day (23rd November) 2017.

For those that haven't seen the original movie, She's Gotta Have It is the story of a struggling Brooklyn artist called Nola Darling who starts seeing three men at the same time.

Netflix dropped the first teaser trailer for the show over the weekend, which sees DeWanda Wise taking over in the lead.
