We've had shows about zombie apocalypse's and robots taking over the world and even a (fairly terrible) movie about the wind turning against us thanks to M. Night Shyamalan, but now it's the rain's turn to wreak some havoc in this upcoming Netflix Original TV series.

(So basically we can assume already Ireland would be screwed in this scenario.)

It's not anything as simple as the rain flooding the world a la Noah and the Ark however, it's much more sinister as it sees a brutal virus carried by the rain wipe out almost all humans.

The Danish drama kicks off six years after this first happened with two siblings emerging from the safety of their bunker to find all remnants of civilisation gone. Soon they join a group of young survivors and together set out on a danger-filled quest through abandoned Scandinavia, searching for any sign of life.

Called simply The Rain, the show will see them "discover that even in a post-apocalyptic world there’s still love, jealousy, coming of age, and many of the problems they thought they’d left behind with the disappearance of the world they once knew".

The Rain is the first Danish original series for Netflix and will launch this year.
