These numbers are crazy.

Bright is a David Ayer helmed Netflix original movie starring Will Smith that has been panned since it’s release on December 22nd. One of the issues, according to Chance the Rapper, has been its depiction of racism (Read our review here.)

But it turns out the negative publicity hasn’t put viewers off. Figures released by Nielsen show that a whopping 11 million people watched it in the U.S alone in its first three days. The news will come as a relief to Netflix executives who shelled out $90M to have it made.

A closer look at the demographics show that it was more popular with a male audience while nearly 4M viewers came from the all important 18-34 age range.

The script was penned by Max Landis (son of John Landis) who is currently embroiled in a sexual assault scandal but it’s impossible to tell what effect that had on viewership.
