Those of you who watch 'The Crown' will know by now, firstly, what a great show it is and secondly, that there will be a brand new cast taking over the roles in season three as the story moves on to later decades.

Thankfully, the Emmys did not let this year's ceremony go by without honouring the fantastic Claire Foy for her role as the monarch and the actress even got a bit emotional as she accepted the award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Foy described working on the Netflix series as the "the most extraordinary two-and-a-half years of my life" while she dedicated the award to "the next cast, the next generation" as well as her on-screen husband Matt Smith, who looked adorably delighted with the mention.

34-year-old Foy beat out tough competition with other nominees in the category including Sandra Oh ('Killing Eve'), Tatiana Maslany ('Orphan Black'), Keri Russell ('The Americans'), Elisabeth Moss ('The Handmaid’s Tale'), and Evan Rachel Wood ('Westworld').

Foy also gave a shout-out to a fellow nominee saying, "Sandra Oh, I love ya!" (Our favourite part of this whole clip below is Sandra Oh's mother seeming to acknowledge this and say something to her daughter which distracts her during the awkward-gracious-applause bit.)
