In the first of two boot-camp editions this week (there's more tears tomorrow night), over 200 contestants who impressed at the auditions head to Liverpool's Echo Arena for a series of challenges. Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa and Louis Walsh will be on the lookout for star potential as the acts try to raise their game, but the pressure of the competition means some of the more promising singers disappoint, while some of the others forget their lyrics. Dermot O'Leary is with the hopefuls backstage as they rehearse for a spot at the live show that we might start watching for the bright colours and flashing lights if the weather gets really gloomy.
