London Olympics Closing Ceremony. RTE2: 8.45pm
One Direction, Queen and Jessie J, Tinie Tempah and Jessie J, Jessie J and Jessie J, The Clash, Pet Shop Boys, Madness, Take That, The Who... and Eric Idle. Just some of the names due to perform as the 30th Olympiad reaches a conclusion in the traditional closing ceremony. Beginning at 9.00pm, and featuring more than 4,000 performers - including 3,500 volunteers - the show is entitled A Symphony of British Music, and celebrates one of the nation's greatest cultural exports over the past 50 years. Morrissey doesn't feature again. The concert is followed by the appearance of the athletes who say their farewells en masse, before London mayor Boris Johnson then takes the stage for the official handover to Rio de Janeiro.
