Adoption has touched countless families since it was legalised in Ireland in 1952, but decisions made decades ago are still affecting people today. In the second series of Adoption Stories, we meet people on all sides of the triangle - children, birth parents and adoptive parents. This week we meet John Kiely, a 40-year-old from Kilrush, Co Clare. Following a serious work accident, he decided to take matters into his own hands to trace his biological mother after the official channels failed to provide him with the information he was seeking.
