Yes, you did read that correctly.

Wu-Tang Clan producer and rapper RZA, born Robert Diggs, has brought a Brooklyn-based dog-walking company to court for naming themselves Woof-Tang Clan, which he claims is “unmistakably linked” with the group and violates their trademark.

The owner of Woof-Tang Clan, Marty Cuatchon, who sounds like quite the character, told the New York Daily News that his company offers dog sitting services and walk “the illest group of dogs in New York City”. He also claims that his staff are “courteous and responsible, as long as we’re in agreement that Nas’ Illmatic is the greatest album of all time”.

He said he was aware of the legal case but couldn’t comment on it, simply stating- “I am a fan. We walk dogs. I thought it was a good idea.”

Cuatchon was also selling T-shirts that depicted dogs on classic hip-hop album covers by groups from De La Soul to late Wu-Tang member Ol Dirty Bastard but they have since been taken down.

The legal dogfight is ongoing.
