Rory McIlroy has a lot of fans all around the world, so many indeed that some of them aren't even human.

A spectator's dog that ran on to the course yesterday at the Dunhill Links Championship got a rare treat when Rory McIlroy stopped to play a bit of keep away with it. The playful pup appeared on the 18th tee at Carnoustie and the world number one was more than happy to get involved and have a laugh

Rory spoke to reporters afterwards about the incident, saying that it was "just something to, I don’t know, pass the time a little I guess. Got my doggy head cover out for him to play with for a little bit, which was good fun. It’s always nice, whether we play here at Carnoustie or Kingsbarns or St. Andrews, a lot of people have their dogs out with them on the golf course, and any time I go past one, I try and give it a bit of a pat or a stroke or whatever."

Get it? Stroke? Golf? Rory the comedian everyone...
