If television presenters are told never to work with animals or children, then maybe exhausted, drunk, middle-aged men should be added to that list.

Wendy Burch of KTLA was sent to cover the July 4th Hermosa Beach Ironman competition and during a live piece to camera was caught in the crossfire as one of the competitor’s projectile vomited.

Seconds after Burch took one for the team, it cut back to studio to reveal two horrified anchors who didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The motto for the race in question is “Run, Paddle, Chug!” so it’s safe to say the offender had swapped his protein shake for a few cold ones instead.

One of her colleagues also sent out this tweet which captures the reaction in studio.

Poor Wendy responded to the incident in a blog post and revealed she’s a bit of a legend-

"Let’s say, after that, it was a wrap. I drove home, took a hot shower and a long nap," she said and had a message for anyone wanting to enter the journalism industry.

"To all of you aspiring journalists out there, I’m here to tell you, dreams really do come true… especially in the age of viral videos.”

Well handled, Wendy.
