Unless you're a surfer, the general reaction of seeing an enormous waves coming towards you will understandably be one of panic.

Being an island nation, many of us (of a certain age) will have been on a ferry or large boat at some point in the past (i.e. before Ryanair came around and offered an alternative to a week in Butlin's, Pwhelli for the family holiday.) However, it's unlikely that any of us have ever seen something as utterly terrifying as the size of this wave approaching a New Zealand navy vessel.

This footage puts a bad night on 'Deadliest Catch' to shame. It's more like the CGI-created footage from 'The Perfect Storm' - except it's 100% real.

If you're not a fan of the sea in general, maybe don't watch it.
