19 year old Adama Toupalik is one hell of a cyclist but it looks like his math skills might stop him from being one of the greats.

Toupalik was competing in the Under-23s Men’s Cyclocross World Championship yesterday where he came agonisingly close to claiming 1st place.

In fact, at one point in the race he thought he had won. He celebrated crossing the line for the last lap thinking that he'd won. By the time the penny had dropped, 4 riders had already overtaken him and he was left with a mountain to climb.

Amazingly, he managed to regain first place only to be pipped at the death. You can check out the conclusion of the race in this video @01:01:00

It's fair to say he won't be able to live this one down for a while.

Pro-tip Adama, if the crowds aren't celebrating with you it's probably because there's nothing to celebrate yet.
