History was made in the US House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Republican Roger Marshall was sworn into Congress but it was his teenage son, Cal, who stole the show and made history by introducing "the dab" to the House for the first time.

The teenager was tasked with holding the bible as Marshall was sworn in by House Speaker Paul Ryan. As Ryan and the Marshall family posed for a photo op, Cal took the opportunity to dab.

Naturally the move confused the hell out of Ryan who asked Cal if he was "alright" before pushing his hand back down. He then asked Cal if he was sneezing, to which the giggling teenager confirmed "yeah."

Marshall took to Twitter to publicly assure Paul Ryan that his son has been "grounded" over the incident.

Though perhaps a nicer gesture would have been to explain to Ryan exactly what dabbing is.
