The stars attempted to “break the internet” by parodying driving segments from other shows.
Tom Cruise was in London to promote his movie American Made when he caught up with the late-night host for a drive around the city.
“We’re going to do ‘Carpool Karaoke’, right?” asked a confused looking Cruise, also referencing Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
“Everyone else has done bells and whistles. My thing is we take it back to basics: We just drive,” explained O’Brien before locking the doors and taking off.
And that’s just what they do. After an awkward few minutes without much small talk, the pair discuss O’Brien’s driving skills, tease a Jack Nicholson story and the possibility that Cruise may have to pee in a water bottle.
Eventually he unlocks his door and jumps from the moving vehicle. As you do.
