If you look hard enough and you live on top of a mountain, you may well see snow this weekend...or that could be your dandruff, we make no guarantees.

The folks at Met Éireann are very cautiously predicting that there may be a bit of snow on higher ground this weekend, which would make it the first snow of a cold snap that we're told will be both record-breaking and hugely unpleasant.

While temperatures tonight will drop in to the minus numbers in some places, and Saturday will be cold and rainy, Sunday will be the day that the first flakes could hit the ground in certain parts.

They are predicting that we will see "snow on western and northern hills" and possibly some sleet, while higher ground further east could also be affected. Overnight on Sunday, the cold weather will continue, where the north could see "some snow accumulation". It might not be time to break out the snow boots and the tyre chains just yet, but it's high time for this bad boy, we feel.
