Back in March, the S-Town podcast series gained a lot of attention when it launched worldwide. Coming from the makers of the Serial podcast, expectations were high for the new show. Unlike Serial, it did not focus on true crime, but rather painted a portrait of John B. McLemore - an openly gay intellectual, living in the small town of Woodstock, Alabama. It issues of identity, belonging and the isolation and loneliness of small town life.

The show was created and narrated by Brian Reed and this September, Reed will travel to Ireland to discuss the making of the show and what he has learned in the process. Reed works for the This American Life podcast, and was conducting research for that show when he developed S-Town. He will be appearing in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin on September 29th for an event which will be part conversation, part Q&A.
