There will be 450,000 condoms available at the Athlete's Village for the forthcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
That breaks down to 100,000 female condoms and 350,000 male condoms. According to the International Olympic Committee, this is more than 3 times the amount that was distributed at the London Games in 2012.
It's estimated that 10,500 athletes and staff will be staying in the village throughout the duration of the games. The condoms are distributed free at the Athlete's Village in a bid to encourage the athletes and staff to practice safe sex.
It has yet to be confirmed if the increase in contraception is in relation to Brazil's Zika virus outbreak. The virus, which is carried by mosquitoes, can also be transmitted sexually.
