Sam Raimi has confirmed at this week's ComicCon that he will be producing The Last of Us for ScreenGems and has been in talks with Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones to star.

One of the most critically-acclaimed and commercially successful videogames in recent memory, The Last Of Us is a post-apocalyptic tale of a man and a young girl attempting to survive in a world that's been ravaged by a virus that turns people into, well, not nice people.

No director has been lined up as yet, however Neil Druckmann - who wrote the videogame - will be providing the screenplay for the film.

Initial thoughts? Look, we're not getting our hopes up for this one. There's yet to be a remotely decent videogame adaptation and, as much as we genuinely loved The Last of Us, half its charm came from the fact that you felt like you were an active participant in a film.

This is a common criticism of videogames into films; that you're taken out of the story. We're more than happy to be proven wrong about The Last of Us, but we've been hurt before.

Remember Resident Evil? Yeah, exactly.
