According to two sources who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity, Oprah Winfrey is now "actively thinking" about running for US President in 2020.

CNN's sources claim that her speech at last night's Golden Globes have spurred her into action, with some of her closest friends and confidants urging her into the race. Many analysts compared last night's speech as a rallying cry for a 2020 run, with former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau arguing not to "underestimate her," and specifically pointed to Obama's lack of inexperience against the likes of Hillary Clinton and John McCain in 2008.

Oprah's personal wealth and recognition, as well as her presence and charm, puts her in contention - but all of this is, of course, just speculation. Oprah herself hasn't yet made any public comments on the possibility, and nothing will be decided until after the 2018 Mid-Term Elections in the US.

Meanwhile, Oprah's longtime partner Stedman Graham said that it was "up to the people" if she was elected, and added that she would "absolutely do it."
