As the US begins to parse through Michael Wolff's exposé on the Trump administration (it doesn't hit Irish shelves until next week), more and more people are shocked - or rather, not that shocked - by Trump's exploits.

There's already the revelations about how he does his hair, the fact that he eats cheeseburgers in bed by 6.30PM, doesn't sleep in the same room as his wife (the last president to do this was JFK), and didn't even know what Brexit was three weeks before it happened.

But what's all this about Trump watching a gorilla channel? It all began as a parody excerpt from Wolff's book that "claimed" staffers had to come up with a channel solely about gorillas, including editing together clips from Animal Planet and the like to keep Trump happy.

Here's the tweet in question.

Now, when you consider the fact that Trump skim-watches movies (something we talked about before), and the fact that staffers in Trump's White House seemingly had to edit out newspaper clippings and the like so it was all positive coverage of him, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this might just be possible if you were a casual follower of the whole thing.

As it turns out, a few people were actually caught by the story.

Of course, it doesn't help that you had the likes of Vice making an actual gorilla channel, or the likes of Netflix or Discovery Channel getting in on the whole thing either.

Truly, this is the darkest timeline.
