So this is something straight out of a horror movie where snakes take over the planet, right? Scientists in the United States have recorded not one but two different species of snake that have litters that were  'virgin births'. Yes, they is making them babies all on their own. I would chip in with a Destiny's Child hand throw, if not for the ever so mild terror the thought provokes.

Normally, like almost everything else that reproduces on our humble planet, each egg requires a sperm to fertilize it for it to grow to be a new organism. Birds and the bees, yadda yadda yadda. And it grows up and makes more babies and then dies and the Circle of Life continues. However, researchers at University of Tulsa, Oklahoma have discovered 'facultative parthenogenesis' in wild cottonhead and cottonmouth vipers, with between 2.5% and 5% of viper litters containing little messiah snakes. You couldn't just have left the snakes alone and played in the wind that was sweeping down the planes now could you Oklahoma. And it turns out sharks and giant lizards can do it too. Yay.

Where's Samuel L. Jackson when you need him.
