In case you were wondering - yes, koalas get chlamydia too, believe it or not. And the little cute furry things obviously need treatment for it.

If you were also wondering how on earth Russell Crowe and John Oliver tie into this news, bear with us.

You may remember Crowe's 'divorce auction', where he sold off a lot of personal items and memorabilia from films he had worked on over the years.

One of those things was a jockstrap that he used in the film 'Cinderella Man', which talk show host Oliver bought and then donated to a Blockbuster video rental outlet in Alaska, in a bid to make it a tourist attraction and generate more footfall.

Now, Crowe has gotten his own back for Oliver's indiscretion by donating the proceeds he made from the sale to found a ward at Australia Zoo - the zoo run by the Irwins - that specifically treats chlamydia in koala bears. He had promised to spend it on 'something special' on Twitter last month, and well... he certainly came good on that promise.

In fairness to Oliver, he took it all in good humour, saying: "Well played Russell Crowe. Well played indeed. That may honestly be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. What I’m essentially saying here is we’ve accomplished everything we set out to do on this show. Which means thanks very much everyone, but we are fucking done here. That’s right, let’s shut it down. This show is over.”
