Yes, apparently the viral video of a tiny little rat showering himself was not actually a rat, but a type of rodent that's indigenous to South America called a Pacarana.

In fact, the rat is known for making those slow, human movements regularly and - here's the best part - the Chilean Minister of Energy, Andrés Rebolledo Smitmans, posted a video of a pacarana in action and explained that this is typical behaviour for them.

Not only that, the shampoo on the pacarana was safe for animals such as them and he really was just enjoying a shower. Here's the tweet, together with a regular pacarana.

Every day's a school day in here, folks.
