Fans of The Simpsons will love this.

Animator David Silverman, who has worked as an animator and director on The Simpsons for years (directing such classics as ‘Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire', ‘Bart Gets an F’, ‘Krusty Gets Cancelled’, ‘Mother Simpson’ and numerous Treehouse of Horror episodes), as well as directing The Simpsons movie, recently revealed glimpses into what might have happened on the show.

Sharing sketches from a 1995 Simpsons writers' retreat, ideas that never made it to air included one in which Smithers’ cat was Scratchy (which let’s be honest, is probably a way better idea than what they’re coming out with now).

The sketches also include early drawings of Grimey, a sequence that would eventually inspire ‘Lisa the Simpson’, and some great doodles of Homer having a laugh:
