You know how it goes - you're out walking along Sarsfield Bridge in Limerick, next thing you see a swan trying to cross the road and holding up traffic.

Before you know it, you're an Internet meme and the image of you attempting to help a swan cross the road has been shared over 4,000 times on Facebook. It could happen to anyone, even a bishop. As Jack McGrath told the Limerick Leader, it was just happenstance that he was in the right place at the right time.

"There were a couple of tourists hanging around but they didn't know what to do. No one else really stopped to help. I kept whistling at him, and he just followed me, although we were stuck in the middle of the road for a while, and motorists kept laughing at us trying to get across."

The images in question were snapped by Deirdre Power, who then shared said images with Limerick Animal Welfare. The images document the swan's journey from Sarsfield Bridge, right across the road and down to the banks of the Shannon - all with Jack McGrath's help.

Here's the photos in question. We're expecting the film rights to be snapped up any day now.
