There really is no event too small or minor that people won't attempt to throw a session for.

As anyone who lives or works within Dublin City Centre will tell you, the cross-city works for Luas have been a complete and utter pain in the hole - but it looks as though it's finally coming to an end in the near future. This weekend will see the Luas gauge run, which - according to Luas' official statement on the matter - "will consist of using two trams moving at slow speeds (from 5kph up to 10kph) between St. Stephen’s Green, College Green and over to O’Connell Street. On Sunday 18 June, the gauge run will continue between Broadstone and Cabra and through the city centre again."

The tests will begin around 7AM and run until the mid-afternoon, with members of An Garda Siochana and test marshals supervising that end of it all. On the other end of the spectrum and completely unaffiliated with the tests, a Facebook event with 560 confirmed attendees so far and over 1,100 interested is hoping to turn the gauge run into an almighty session - complete with a big bag of cans for the lads, inflatable furniture, placards, and business suits.

No, really.

If this actually happens and people turn up at the Luas Cross City gauge tests, please send images to us because we're not going to believe until we have verified photographic evidence. Not only that, if the session for this one goes off, imagine what it'll be like when they actually finish the construction works and the city goes back to normal.

BIG BAG OF CANS ON THE LUAS, LADS. Except public drinking is illegal and you can be thrown off a Luas for drinking on it, so that's a big no-no and we are not condoning any of this whatsoever.

Ahem.
