A pair of Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics made a detour to the beach for a palliative care patient who wanted to see the ocean one last time.

A picture of one of the paramedics with the patient, whose stretcher had been propped up so they could look out to the ocean stretching out from Hervey Bay, has been viewed by people all over the world.

The patient, who was unidentified, was being transported to the palliative care unit of a local hospital when she mentioned her desire to see the beach and the crew kindly obliged.
